What are the aims of this course?

This course is designed to assist you in acquiring an understanding of basic political principles and knowledge of the UK governmental system. It offers suitable preparation for those who wish to study government or politics at university.

The course includes the study of the following:
- People, politics and participation
- Governing modern Britain

What qualifications do I need to do this course?

Five GCSEs at grade C or four at grade B, including Maths and English.

How is the course assessed?

Each unit will be assessed by two written exam papers.

Which qualification will I be awarded if I successfully complete the course?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded an AS level in Government and Politics and an A level in Government and Politics.

What will I be able to go on to do after I've completed this course?

Successful completion of the course, in combination with other AS or A levels, can lead directly to a wide range of higher education courses. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.

What are the career opportunities?

AS/A level Government and Politics will enable you to develop a range of transferable skills, which can be used in a wide range of career areas, including business, law, economics and media. Specialist career advice will be available from our Advice and Guidance Team throughout your course.
