The School of Building is one of the north west’s top centres for all aspects of construction training. Based at the Welcomb Street centre, the college’s Openshaw and Moston campuses, and several specialist centres, the School of Building provides training throughout Manchester.
Located in Openshaw, just a short distance away from the Openshaw Campus, the centre has extensive facilities for general construction, carpentry and joinery, woodmachining, brickwork, painting and decorating, plumbing, heating and ventilation, wall and floor tiling, and plastering – all of which can be studied here by 16-18s and adults.
Other facilities at the centre include a SkillZone with IT facilities, a learning resource centre and a canteen.
Nearby, at Preston Street, there is a centre with specialist provision for scaffolding, automotive, engineering, formwork and general construction courses for 16-18s.
The college is one of only a few centres providing scaffolding training, in facilities that create a real world working experience.
